Chateau Margaux
A magnificent gated estate situated on 4-1/2 acres on the hillside of cool Bordeaux Mountain. Located 1,000 feet above the quaint town of Coral Bay with breathtaking views of the entire chain of the British Virgin Islands and the Sir Francis Drake Channel. This estate is ideal for one, two or three families.
This spacious luxury estate consists of 3 masonry buildings connected by wooden walkways and native stone paths. The interior living space is 6,165 square feet and the exterior decking is 2,300 square feet for a total of 8,465 sq. ft. The main level of the 3 story great house contains the living, dining and kitchen areas. The master bedroom/bath and 2 guest bedrooms are on the upper level. Overlooking the main house is a detached guesthouse with a 1 bedroom suite, while a 2 story guesthouse with 2 bedrooms/2baths is beside the main house.
Take a dip in the 14' X 28' infinity edge pool - 4' deep in the shallow end with stairs for entry into the depths of 13'. A solar blanket is available for keeping the temperature mild. The tiled sun deck is equipped with eight chaise lounges for your enjoyment. For toddlers, a nylon mesh barrier around the pool area may be installed for your family by advance request. Also, safety netting for pool balcony railings is available by advance request.
The Great Room features tropical sea grass couches with two comfortable chairs to relax and enjoy the spectacular down island view or to watch cable TV from the 37" big screen. The entertainment center is complete with remote control BOSE Wave Stereo, CD, Cassette Player and DVD. A video & cd collection are included for your enjoyment along with several board games and binoculars. Two walls of 8ft screened sliding glass doors afford excellent views and open from the living room to the sun deck and pool. Stroll out one the sliders to pass a small stone lily pond that leads to the office which includes a Dell Computer with internet access, printer, copier, scanner, phone, fax and lots of desk space for the guest who just cannot leave the office behind. Adjacent is a half bath which houses the washer/dryer.
The Dining Room features a native stone wall adorned with a 58 pound White Marlin caught right here in the waters of the Virgin Islands. The dining table seats eight, combined with outside table seating for four to accommodate up to twelve guests.
The modern gourmet kitchen is well equipped for preparing meals for large or small groups. Granite Countertop Kitchenaid Stove , two convection ovens, a microwave, dishwasher, large pantry, toaster, coffeemaker and bar seating for two. Also included is a washer, 2 dryers and gas barbecue grill.
The lovely screened Garden Dining Area is located beside the kitchen with a bistro table with seating for four.
The lavish master suite contains a four poster king bed and bath with 30" cable color TV, VCR, air conditioning, his and hers walk-in closets, safe, and two private decks offering inspiring long-distance sea views to the horizon.
The master bath vanity, and spacious dressing table with his and hers wash basins and bidet.
Enter from the gardens and koi ponds through the side door to take a relaxing bath in the Jacuzzi tub or enjoy bathing in the coral stone shower for two.
From the master bedroom walk down the hall to the Plantation and Parrot Bedrooms also upstairs in the great house. Both contain queen beds, ceiling fans, air conditioning and telephones. The Plantation room has a private deck with table and chairs for quiet relaxation or admiring the fabulous down island view.
The Parrot bedroom can be accessed through the shared bath with shower and tub or by its own separate entrance. Step just outside the slider to the large private deck perfect for reading a book or sipping on your favorite delight. The arrangement of the three upper level bedrooms makes the Chateau Margaux Great House desirable for families with small children.
The Orchid bedroom, upstairs of the two story guesthouse has a queen four poster bed with air conditioning, tv, with cable, vcr, stereo with cd player, large closet, telephone, sitting area for reading, and private bath with large tiled shower.
The Palm Bedroom, downstairs of the two story guest house features a bamboo queen bed, air conditioning, large walk- in closet, tv with cable, vcr, stereo with cd player, telephone, sitting area for reading, and private bath with large expansive tiled shower with a view of the unspoiled lush mountainside.
Arrive at the romantic private cottage by stone steps along the Koi pond and orchid filled growing trees. A four poster king bedroom has a full bath with shower & tub, tv with cable, vcr, and telephone
The Cottage also includes a kitchen sink with small refrigerator, microwave oven, coffee maker and dining for four. A tiled balcony with comfortable wicker seating offers commanding down island views.
There are two lily ponds on the estate with a rock waterfall featuring koi, orandas, and plattys. The expansive gardens contain an abundance of fruit trees consisting of orange, grapefruit, lemon, avocado, mango, papaya, pomegranate, star fruit, guava, banana, plantain and passion fruit. All are available for the picking when in season.
Chateau Margaux's unique design incorporates abundant native stone walls, gorgeous landscaping, many potted plants, orchids, fishponds, and other features that give this home a feeling of taste and refinement.
It is a 7 mile drive into Cruz Bay on paved roads on either Centerline Road, which runs through the mountains, or along the scenic canopied coast of the north shore road. The National Park Beaches, Maho and Francis Bay, are just a short 5-7 minute drive. In 10 minutes you can enter the small town of Coral Bay where you can dine at one of several restaurants or pick up groceries for dining in. The acclaimed Chateaux Bordeaux Restaurant is within a 10 minute walk from the estate on a paved road.

Deposit:
A deposit of 50% of the total rent is required to confirm your reservation. The balance is due 90 days prior to arrival. The deposit is refunded if re-rented, less 20% administrative costs. Not included in the rental rates is a $500.00 refundable security deposit and a Virgin Islands Hotel Tax of 8%.
